Greetings Quilt Friends,
Just a quick update what's new this week. First, just through the door this morning is the new Quilts & More for Spring, oh some very cute projects!! I have chosen three to do for the shop and I'm not even through the magazine yet. Also, just in today is the book "Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt", oh I love mine. It has stories of the early 40's, when the magazine asked women if they would want their daughter to marry a farmer. Plus 100+ quilt block patterns and the CD is included. I will offer a gathering for this if there is enough interest. We got in late last week 20 new bolts of new Civil War prints. I used them in the quilt I finished from Bonnie Blue Quilts named "Second Hand Clothes", what a wonderful easy quilt. I had it all cut last Saturday when I left the shop and I have done and loaded on the quilt machine to quilt this week. We are in the process of cutting kits for it. Our Fat Quarter Sale was a huge success even with the winter weather that arrived later in the day. There are still some left at the price of $1.50, and we loaded up our backing bin with tons of backing pieces all at $6.00/yard. If your looking for some backing stop in and see what you find.
I'm working on the final details for our spring retreat at Lake Poinsett, there are only a couple openings left, if your interested call the shop soon. Remember this is a UFO retreat and you bring your own project(s) and work with other quilters with no interruptions, no meals to prepare and the warmth, friendship and inspiration you get from other quilters. The bedding, towels and meals are all at the retreat center. We venture to a couple antique shops and over to Lake Norden for Friday night supper. Three ladies to a room. Once you join us you'll never miss another retreat. Find a couple of friends and join us, dates are March 19-21. Guaranteed a great time and cost is only $225./person. And you receive a goody bag to take home.
Also, I'm in the early stages of offering a weekend of great fun in May with three ladies from Australia, they are flying here to vend at Spring Quilt Market and will come and teach for me if there is interest. Please let me know as they need to finalize their airfare. I met them in Houston and they would love to come and teach for us. They do this in Australia and women love it. I'm waiting for an email with more details to share, so this is just a scant amount of info.
With the winter we've had I'm guessing you all have gotten allot of projects finished or started. In a few short months the weather will be getting nice and then you'll head outside to work in your gardens. In the meantime enjoy the time to quilt. On Tuesday we will have our Antique Buttermold class, it is wool that is hand appliqued on cotton. I have a few kits available if your interested. Check it out on our website. Lisa has been working hard to get our website updated, so if you have it marked as a favorite, you may need to change it, but go check it out www.quiltedmem.com and see all that is on there!!
OK, I'm off to work on another new project for spring!! Have a great week and we hope you'll stop by and say Hi!!
